VELVET TAMARIND Popularly known as icheku or nkwa in Igbo, Yoruba’s called it Awin while in Hausa land is known as Tsamiyar kurm. The black velvet tamarind fruit is mostly found in the forest during raining season.
It has smooth grayish
and dark green glossy leaves and a whitish flower which bears densely velvet
black fruit that are less circular and flattened and sweet.
